The Senior UWHC Cardiovascular Technician (CVT)- El! ectrophysiology (EP) is a senior performance level for performing pediatric, adolescent and adult diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures. This position functions independently as an expert technician in EP who is a highly competent and clinically skilled member of the Heart & Vascular Care Procedure Center patient care team that includes registered nurses, cardiovascular technicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, cardiology fellows and faculty physicians. In addition to assisting the EP physicians with the most complex EP procedures, this position oversees the technical operations required for the performance of routine diagnostic through the advanced interventional electrophysiology procedures. Positions allocated to this senior level perform the most complex and difficult EP procedures with proficiency and demonstrate technical expertise, making a significant contribution to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias.! This position must be an expert who is competent in the use o! f EP monitoring / stimulation systems, intracardiac echocardiography and 3D mapping systems. This Senior CVT-EP possesses expert clinical and technical knowledge which he/she applies to systematically and continuously collects and assess data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic care for the patient. The person must demonstrate a high degree of understanding of the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and all invasive EP procedures. The individual must be competent in proper sterile technique and will assist the physician with implantation of permanent pacemakers, ICD¿s and BiV-ICD¿s. The individual must be competent in the operation and troubleshooting skills of EP specialty equipment and the x-ray system. This Senior level CVT has the expert knowledge and ability to operate EP specialty equipment; reviews and updates EP procedure manuals and protocols; assists in staff education for nurses and CVT-objective, maintains EP staff compete! ncies and training; provides input to Invasive Cardiology Supervisor and Manager regarding annual performance appraisals for EP staff; and assists in coordination of research and quality improvement projects in the EP department. Duties for the Senior CVT-EP position include the objective CVT duties but are more focused on hemodynamic monitoring and recording, operating 3D mapping systems, circulating and scrubbing roles during EP procedures.
This position requires the individual to be flexible in their work schedule including but not limited to extended shifts and on-call per operational needs. This individual is considered an expert in EP based on their knowledge, clinical and technical skill level and ability to educate and train staff within the department. The Senior CVT has ACLS, BLS and RCIS certification or Heart Rhythm Society CEPS certification. The ability to educate and mentor other staff members of the EP team is required. This incumbent demonstrates compet! ency in assisting with EP procedures from newborn thru geriatric patien! t population. The incumbent maintains expert clinical knowledge in electrophysiology and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self and other EP staff. The Senior Level EP CVT serves as a role model and clinical resource for EP staff and other members of the health care team. This position reports directly to the Invasive Cardiology Manager. This individual¿s annual performance is jointly evaluated with input from the Medical Director of Electrophysiology Program.
Qualifications
1. Required: Five (5) years of Cardiovascular Technician work experience in an Electrophysiology Lab.
Preferred: Ten (10) years of CVT work experience performing in the Electrophysiology Lab.
BS degree
2. Required: If an Imaging Technician, then registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians (ARRT).
BLS certification
ACLS certification
RCIS certification within six months of hire date.
Preferre! d: RCIS, RCIT, or HRS CEPS Certification of Special Competency in Cardiac Electrophysiology for Associated Professionals.
3. Self-motivated & directed with regard to an increasing level of understanding and knowledge.
4. Demonstrated expertise related to Electrophysiology theory and technical skills.
5. Ability to effectively teach and precept staff in Electrophysiology theory and technical skills.

12. Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area. 13. Capable of d! emonstrating flexibility with demands of external/internal customers pl! aced on operating functions of the department.
14. Advanced computer skills and technical skills required to operate EP specialty equipment.
15. Capable of wearing lead aprons for extended periods of time.
15. Physical ability to lift and position patients and assist with patient transfers utilizing beds or stretchers.
16. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Pay
This is a Represented position and falls into Pay Grade V. The salary range begins at $26.83 per hour. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
Work Schedule
Day/Evening, 8/10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday between 6:00am and 6:00pm, rotated on call between 5:00pm and 6:30am Mon-Fri, including weekends. . On call response time of 30 minutes.
