• Leads and develops departments of responsibility

at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare! -Franklin and Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital.

• Creates collaborative relationships within

department and throughout the hospitals extending to the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare System.

• Enhances communications and collaboration with

medical staff throughout departments of
responsibility.

• Provides for department operations that are

fiscally sound.

• Provides for staff, patient and physician

satisfaction.

• Assures quality patient care that is focused on

best practice.

• Operationalizes an integrated Quality

Improvement process that is inclusive of nursing
and medicine.

• Identifies and introduces relevant trends,

research, and key concepts within service area
when appropriate.

• Accountable for attaining satisfaction

benchmarks for all areas of responsibility.

• Ensure! s development and maintenance of necessary

regulato! ry and departmental policies &
procedures. Works closely with the members of
the medical staff to design department service
delivery to meet the needs of the department,
the hospital and the patients served.

• Reviews the literature to determine current

practice trends.

• Works collaboratively with service counterparts

in WFH system to assure that department, site,
and system needs are met.

• Serves as an active member on hospital

committees upon request and represents the
perspective of areas of oversight.

• Is an active participant in relevant community-

based activities, boards and/or committees.

Fiscal Responsibilities:

• Develops and administers budgets; plans,

implements, and allocates resources in
collaboration with staff with a focus on
operational excellence.

• Responsible for coordination and monit! oring of

capital expenditures. Provides for equipment
analysis and recommendations for modifications
and acquisitions.

• Facilitates the development of business cases to

support strategic capital initiatives relevant
to departments.

• Ongoing evaluation of current programs to assure

financial viability.

• Accountability for achievement of productivity

benchmarks with attention to unit productivity
and resource utilization.

• Monitors metrics related to productivity,

quality indicators, market share, payor mix,
including staff and physician satisfaction.
