Candidates that apply for this position are required to be a Graduate of Medical Assistant Program or Practical Nursing Program
The Medical Assistant works within the Medical As! sistant scope of practice and as part of the Healthcare Team to meet the individual and age specific needs of the patients, families/significant others, while under the direction and supervision of the Provider and/or Registered Nurse. This responsibility includes the provision of safe and competent direct patient care, daily organizational support for the Provider, and effective communication skills while interacting with patients, families/significant others, and all members of the Healthcare Team.

Education/Learning Experience:

• Required: Graduate of Medical Assistant Program or Practical Nursing Program
• Desired:

Work Experience:

• Required: None
• Desired: 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Required: Skill in the direct patient care activities common to the role of a Medical Assistant. Knowledge of current and changing trends in health c! are, excellent interpersonal skills, effective verbal and writ! ten communication skills, ability to multi-task, basic math skills, basic computer knowledge, ability to adapt to changing work environment, knowledge of infection control principles.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Required: Current certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR certification or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR certification.

Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position

• Position involves extensive standing, walking, reaching. Frequent sitting, grasping, manipulation of equipment and utilization of fine finger movements. Occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, climbing. Specific physical requirements may differ based on patient care department. Involves understanding written and oral instruction, reading and ! understanding written material (e.g. medical record), basic math skills. Ability to conceptualize, think abstractly and continuously learn.
