- Understands, plans, directs and coordinates patient care and nursing/technical activities within the Surgery Department in accordance with the Medical Center standards and policies.
- Collaborates with Director/Administrator to enforce the Journey to Excellence standards of behavior.
- Instructs, directs and guides department activities and personnel.
- Utilizes the nursing process to accurately assess, identify and develop a plan of care for the patient.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize the urgency of patient needs and initiates appropriate interventions of care.
- Facilitates the multidisciplinary care delivery system in the Surgery Department by making assignments, and coordinating the OR patient schedule with surgeons, anesthesia and staff.
- Ensures that staffing and equipment needs are met daily in the OR department with an outcome goal of assuring a safe, efficient, caring and fiscally responsible environment for our patients and staff.
- Participates in the interviewing process for hiring OR staff.
- Schedules and leads department meetings monthly and attends management meetings regularly.
- Attends rural nurse manager meetings.
- Identifies opportunities to improve department processes and services.
- Follows through, responds and evaluates the process and services in a timely manner.
- Participates in annual assessment of educational and staff development needs within the department and follows through on plan.
Education: Registered Nurse, Bachelor's of Science-Nursing degree preferred with additional course work in supervision and/or leadership. Must possess current Wisconsin RN license and maintain BCLS and ACLS certification.
Experience: Preferred 5 years hands on experience in directly related field or position and 2-3 years supervisory experience required.
Demonstrates keyboarding skill and computer knowledge, good communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
