This position will be responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing the operation of the Nursing Home component of the Volunteer Ombudsman Program for the BOALTC Green Bay Regional Office, covering nursing homes in six Wisconsin counties, including Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Outagamie, and Winnebago. Core responsibilities include continuous recruitment, mandatory criminal record screening, mandatory training, appropriate placing, continuous support, and annual recognition of each volunteer in their program. This position interfaces with the Ombudsman Program mandated by Congress through the federal Older Americanâs Act by serving as the liaison between the Volunteer Ombudsmen and the Regional Ombudsmen. Other duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining records through the agencyâs database and administrative procedures necessary to execute an effective volunteer program.

In accordance with Wisconsin Caregiver Law, a criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring. The qualified candidate must possess a valid Wisconsin driver license that meets the Stateâs Risk Management requirements. This position will require use of your personal vehicle and involves travel throughout the state and country.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Volunteer Management : Has proven methods of success in recruitment, retention, and recognition of volunteers. Long Term Care : Has working knowledge of state statutes governing care for the elderly in nursing homes, including the Patientâs Bill of Rights. Computers and Applications : Has experience using Windows 7, Microsoft Outlook and other necessary applications to manage work responsibilities, documentation, and data entry. Written and Oral Communication : Ability to write and speak clearly, and to listen; including public presentations, consulting with nursing home providers, as the liaison for the ombudsman program. Time Management : Ability to work independently and effectively, managing time and priorities in the job responsibilities. Problem Solving : Ability to find a solution; while maintaining professionalism and agency protocol. Team Work : Ability to work in any size group as a cooperative member.
