Position Summary:
The Unit Clerk, under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, provides assistance to patients to ensure quality patient care and satisfaction, and provides assistance to other Clinic staff. Provides assistance to patient inquiries via telephone or personal contact and screens patients to obtain Medical Center information, makes patient appointments, checks in patientâs medical records, schedules surgeries and provides patients appropriate general information regarding thei! r surgical procedure.
Qualifications:
R! equired:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Pleasant outgoing personality.
Medical terminology knowledge/education OR Dean course must be taken within 3 months of DOH.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Preferred:
EMR knowledge and/or experience
Previous Unit Clerk experience.
Patient care skills including safe transferring and ability to take vitals.

Ability to bend/twist and crouch when performing various job tasks.
Depending on location assigned, may need to be able to safely drive a personal vehicle on a weekly or daily basis.
Responsibilities:
Performs advanced computer scheduling, rescheduling, canceling and coordination of appointments.
Performs schedule maintenance in Epic software for provider patient care schedules.
Assist Manager with Allocate software for provider and rooming staff scheduling which will include the input o! f information in database and analyzing for issues/concerns.
C! ollects information for prior authorizations from patients and enters information into the system.
Manages nursing work queues by providing procedure and diagnosis codes.
Assists Manager with preparation for departmental meetings, including minute taking.
Transports patients to other departments and acts as courier for specimens, x-rays, and/or medical records.
Collects and records accurate telephone information and relays it to medical provider or nurse in a timely manner. Collects, orders charts, records accurate prescription refills and relays it to medical provider or nurse in a timely manner.
Monitors drug cabinet, weekly restocks and reorders pharmaceuticals.
Stocks and cleans examination rooms on a routine basis. Orders/unpacks supplies.
Assists in gathering lab information and readying lab letters.
Assists Manager and Providers with patient termination and behavioral letters by creating and send! ing.
Respects and maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
Assists in emergency situations.
Prepares forms and instructs patients on (Pre and Post) procedures; follows up with patients prior to surgical date to ensure accuracy of patient compliance.
Prepares Outreach and Surgical records while maintaining and facilitating forms management between surgical centers and clinical departments.
Manages follow up visits between co-manager and doctor.
Coordinates doctorâs practice with all surgery centers, informing them of changes and/or additions.
Assists patients for second opinion for surgery (i.e., paperwork, phone calls).
Cross train and staff other departments as needed.
Participates in site process improvement teams.
Monitors refrigerator temperatures daily, as well as monitoring medication and department chemicals expiration dates, reporting to Manager Issues or items o! utside of the normal range.

Salary Range
The minimum hourly wage is $13.44. Several factors are considered when determining final compensation.
