LPN licensure required

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care for patients and families under the direct supervision of an RN (or PA, D! O, NP, DPM or MD) in the acute hospital setting. (Direct supervision means that the RN coordinates, directs, and inspects, at first hand, the care provided by the LPN). The LPN applies nursing knowledge and utilizes evidence-based practice in the demonstration of the following competencies:

Education/Learning Experience:

• Required: Graduate of a practical nursing program.

Work Experience

• Desired: 2 years previous experience as an LPN or experience in a health care environment. Prefer experience with surgical procedures.

Skills/Knowledge:

• Required: Technical nursing skills as defined in unit CBO.
• Desired: Teamwork, flexibility, adaptability, and organization. Time management and conflict management skills. Involves frequent communication with patients, families, visitors, staff, community, students and occasionally affiliated organizations. Involves ability to conceptualize, think abs! tractly, and communicate ideas. Frequent priority setting, pla! nning, coordinating, organizing, decision-making, judging, problem solving, advocacy, teaching, integrating, synthesizing, delegating, goal setting and evaluating. Requires continuous learning.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Required: LPN license in the state of Wisconsin [some units/positions will individualize]; Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR certification or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR certification.
