A para professional who gives care to residents as directed by the individualâs plan of care. In addition, assignments are! given in the form of oral instructions, or written work schedules, from the Licensed Nurse. Work is subject to review in progress and upon completion. May work on one specific unit, with the expectations of working other units as needed. .

Essential Job Functio! ns:
Transfer residents in wheelchairs from room to lounge, dining area, activities or church.
Documentation of ADLS and restorative minutes.
Provide care on the basis of infection control and blood borne pathogen policy and procedures.
Answer residents call signals.
Turn and reposition residents, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores.
Observe residents conditions, measuring and recording food and liquid intake and output and vital signs, and report changes to professional staff.
Feed residents who are unable to feed themselves.
Provide residents with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
Provide resident care by supplying and emptying bedpans and changing linens.
Bathe, groom, shave, dress, and provide dignity and respect.
Collect specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum.
Serve on appropriate committees required by the State and Federal Codes! .
Attend required continuing education in-services per nursing regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 75 pounds
Ability to lift 75 pounds or more.
Frequently reach overhead.
Frequently bend, twist and reach.
Alternate between standing, walking and sitting.
Ability to push and pull over 50 pounds.
Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis
Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting patients.
Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
Exposure to cleaning agents and/or chemicals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to enter the job.
Completed a State a! pproved Nursing Assistant course and or passed the State Nursing Assist! ant exam for Certification. Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant on the State and Federal Registry.
One or more years of CNA experience.
Additional knowledge, skills and abilities required to competently perform the job.
Maintain up to date CNA licensure.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
Must be able to relate to and work with elderly that may be ill, disabled, emotionally upset and at times hostile within the organization.
