Program Generalist - Special Education

Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin

Responsible for implementing programs/activities for members. Provides direct service to members.

Position Responsib! ilities

Communicates the philosophy, objectives, standards, and programs of the Boys & Girls Club, through all methods available, to members, their parents and the general public.

Planning

Facilitates activities and daily experience for youth by implementing core area programming.

Works cooperatively with all staff to assure quality activities and programs are promoted and supervised for youth programs, to include but not limited to arts & crafts, field trips, games room, health, goal-setting activities, and physical education.

Supervises the care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and materials.

Data Collections and Reporting

Tracks member participation in assigned program by taking attendance, submitting attendance rosters, and documents results and progress of participants.

Direct Service

Participates with and supervises members in activities and programs.

Assists in problem-so! lving of conflicts that occur between youth.

Assists ! and participates in field trips and outings for members.

Encourages emotional, social, and educational growth of individual members.

Provides guidance and direction to members in the areas of academic success, healthy lifestyles, and civic and community engagement.

Providing various levels of assistance to members including member transferring, assisting in toileting, dressing and cleaning.

Training

Must participate in required trainings by the Club, County, State, and/or funders.

Required Skills

Must be able to work cooperatively with others.

Knowledge of the principles of personal care delivery.

Serve as a positive role model who will show concern, fairness, and enthusiasm. Must be self-motivated, punctual, and reliable.

Good time-management skills.

Possess leadership skills and maintain a cheerful attitude.

Ability to work with autistic children.

Able to demonstrate and gain the respect and confidence of members ages 4-18.

Knowledge of the principles of personal care delivery, including ability to transfer children and knowledge of proper body mechanics

Knowledgeable in development characteristic (social, emotional, and physical) of children ages 4-18.

Ability to cope with human suffering , emergencies, and other work related stresses.

Required Experience

Education

Valid Ce! rtified Nursing Assistant in good standing.

Ability to obtain ! DPI Special Education Program Aide License at time of Hire.

Experience

Background in Child Development and comparable techniques.

This person should be at least 19 years old and possess a variety of experiences working with youth. Areas of emphasis could include: Physical Education, Arts & Crafts, and Playground Supervision.

Must possess experience in working with youth between the ages of 4-18 in a group setting.
