Job Summary:! The Coding Specialist works under minimal supervision to analyze physician dictation and other reports necessary to code all billable charges for physician services provided in assigned areas within our multi-specialty clinic; enter physician charge codes into the computer system; verify and complete physician charges generated in our multi-specialty clinics and in the nursing home setting; serves as a reference source for the entire clinic, physicians, nurses, and support staff regarding general coding issues. Other duties as assigned.

Experience: A minimum of one year experience with ICD-9 and CPT-4 systems is required. Solid knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is required. A passing score on the coding proficiency test is required. Health insurance claim background is preferred.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Coding certification and/or education is preferred.

Licensure: CPC! or RHIT Certified.

Special Skills: Excellent ! keyboarding skills to include 10 key and accuracy; strong organizational skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must have excellent customer service skills.
