Location: Madison Wisconsin

Description: University of Wisconsin-Madison is currently seeking to employ Veterinary Technician 1 and 2 right now, this occupation will be placed in Wisconsin. For detail informations about this occupation opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Salary:
Starting pay for the Vet Tech 1 is $15.039 per
hour (pay schedule/range 06-12) and for the Vet Tech 2 is $16.273 per hour (pay schedule/range 06-13), plus excellent benefits. A

Special Qualifications:
Certification or eligibility for certification as
a Veterinary Technician by the Wisconsin Veterinary Examining Board.
Eligibility for certification is completion of a four-semester
program in animal technology from an accredited school (i.e. Madison
Area Technical College), or a veterinarian's affidavit that you have
been employed for at least two years with at least 50% of time spent
in practical field experience.

Job Dutie! s: Specific responsibilities vary
among departments and may include the following: function as assistant to the
Veterinary staff; perform rounds, perform treatments on large and
small domestic and wildlife species and non-human primates; assist
in operating room; prepare animal patients for anesthesia; monitor
vital signs; operate a variety of sophisticated equipment; provide
backup for surgical technician; provide technical support to
research specialist; perform radiology techniques; provide endoscopy
support; provide dental care; maintain appropriate and necessary
records and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization
in work areas.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and skill to perform blood collection; endotracheal
tube intubation; catheter placement, wound care; suturing of minor
lacerations. Knowledge
of behavior, health requirements, and standards of quality animal
nursing care in one or more species. Knowledge in Laboratory
Animal Medicine. Knowledge of
client relations, history taking, management and maintenance of
legal medical records.
Knowledge of and ability to maintain and operate technical
equipment. Strong skills in oral and written communications.
Knowledge of inventory,
recordkeeping and billing procedures. Knowledge of
spreadsheets and computer applications. Ability to function calmly in
stressful, life and death situations.
Must be able to lift a
minimum of 50 lbs. independently and possess the physical and manual
dexterity to perform specialized tec! hnical tasks.
