This
position independently coordinates complex administrative functions (and
where indicated, carry out) for the Vice Chair of Research and up to two
additional faculty in the Department of Urology. The incumbent will also
assure the smooth functioning and flow of work while monitoring task
completion and deadlines. The UW Department of Urology is nationally known
for our innovative research and outstanding care. We have leading clinical
progra! ms and robust research in all areas of urology. A strong medic! al
staff assistant is needed to provide administrative management of our
research and faculty development programs, working closely with the Vice
Chair for Research as well as other urology faculty.

Job

Duties:
The
Medical Staff Assistant position requires the ability to independently
coordinate complex administrative functions (and where indicated, carry
out) for the Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Urology and up to
two additional faculty in the Department of Urology. Provide administrative
assistance for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, research
personnel, affiliate clinical faculty, residents and fellows. Assure the
smooth functioning and flow of work while monitoring task completion and
deadlines. This position must interface with outside physicians,
paramedical professionals, scientists (both research and clinical),
pharmaceutical representatives, the media and admin! istrators locally,
regionally, nationally and internationally.

This
position plays a leading role in assisting faculty in the administration of
research, administrative, and academic programs for UW Health. The
responsibilities require considerable independence of planning,
decision-making and strong public relation skills. This position must show
confidentiality regarding all written or oral interactions and information.
This position is at the advanced level with little or no supervision.
Professional communications, workplace sensitivity, and workplace diplomacy
are essential. The incumbent will demonstrate exceptional customer service
by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with
the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW-SMPH),
University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC), and the University of
Wisconsin Medical Foundation (UWMF), including Executiv! e Leadership,
Department and Division Chairs, Department Administra! tors, Physicians,
Clinical personnel, co-workers, and other internal and external customers.
The position requires exceptional skills in systems development, leadership

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The Medical Staff
Assistant position requires excellent administrative, organizational, oral
and written communication, and interpersonal skills in order to carry
out the duties set forth in assisting the Vice Chair of Research for the
Department of Urology and up to! two additional faculty in the Department of
Urology. This position requires a high level of professionalism, strong
computer skills and an in-depth understanding of medical terminology. The
ability to work and communicate with a wide variety of people in a fast
paced environment is essential. Familiarity and experience with event
coordination is desirable.
