The College Health Nurse provides and/or coordinates a variety of essential health/safety/wellness services to both students and staff under the daily supervision of the campus Dean of Students with central coordination provided by the Rice Lake Dean of Students.

College health nursing is directed toward enhancing the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning, promoting optimal wellness, enabling individuals to make informed decisions about health-related concerns, and empowering students and staff to be self-directed and well-informed consumers of health care services.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing

2. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin

3. CPR certification

4. Clinical, assessment, counseling, communication and interpersonal skills

5. Experience in occupational health, public health or prevention/health education.

Job Description

Learner Success

Provide a diverse and comprehensive program of wellness/health/safety education for students and staff.

Develop and implement programs related to health and wellness working with students or student organizations whenever possible.

Assist with the integration of wellness issues and preventative education in collaboration with other district departments.

Serve as chair of Campus Wellness Committee, member of College Wide Wellness Work Team, and other committees as assigned.

Operational Effectiveness

Manage the operation of the campus health service.

Prepare/implement annual plan of activities.

Maintain health records that are confidential/secure and provide appropriate documentation.

Coordinate activities for health service intern(s)/work study, and service learning students.

Orient new employees on health/safety issues and assist with the orientation of students

Oversee campus health service and wellness budget.

Participate in the development and implementation of health and health service related policies and procedures.

Service as a resource to the administration on environmental health and safety issues.

Coordinate and provide safety/ emergency services for students and staff.

Provide assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation of health problems.

Provide client education related to prevention, wellness, disease or treatment.

Assist with the identification, placement, and management of students with special health needs.

Coordinate/provide campus health screenings/clinics and immunization programs.

Serve as liaison among school, home, community health agencies, and other health care professionals.

Coordinate and provide safety/emergency services for students and staff.

Participate as a member of the campus Safety Committee, service as a resource in the development and implementation of safety procedures.

Serve as regional coordinator and technical advisor for compliance with federal and/or state safety/emergency service mandate.

Coordinate and provide mental/behavioral services for students and staff.

Provide holistic care and serve as a resource for campus and community referrals.

Partnerships

Actively participate in campus, regional, collegewide and state teams and committees.

Collaborate with counselors, student activities advisor and disability services specialist on wellness activities and student issues.

Represent your campus among your peer group collegewide.
