Dad is an IT manager for a Madison based company, Mom is a New Certified Nurse Midwife who is starting a home birth practice. We're looking for help with the kids and basic things around the house (cooking, shopping, cleaning, etc.) and helping with monitoring some of the schooling of the kids - this is mostly making sure that they are doing the assigned work. We are ! a fun family and have an energetic but fairly well behaved dog! . The older two kids go to their bio mom's two nights a week and every other weekend.
We would love to find someone that we can bring into our home and consider an extension of our family. Someone that is going to be almost like a big sister or the favorite aunt for our kids. Is that you? We'd love to hear you and your vision for what it would be like to be a nanny to our kids!
Currently, we have an AuPair living with us, and it's been a good year with her. We thought that we'd look for someone domestically this time. Based on experience, I think you'll find that our position will be a pretty laid back one. The kids are well behaved and disciplined (not perfect, but you'll quickly see the difference when compared to other kids).
Mom will be home most of the time and nurses the baby, so she's usually pretty close to her. The other kids are low maintenance and help with all the chores (they'll debate about who gets the fun job of cleaning the toilet! s!) Mostly, you'll be directing traffic or keeping a very happy 2 year old busy. We have a 2 story 4 bedroom house. Matthew - the 9 year old boy shares a room with his 2 year old brother.
Abby, our 12 year old has her own room. The younger 2 girls will share a room and the baby is still in the master with Mom and Dad. The nanny room would have her own space with her own bathroom. Next, I wanted to share a bit more detail around the kids.
The oldest is a very loving and talkative 12 year old girl. She's very helpful and responsible around the house - we call her mini-mom. She's a good girl, but has a few insecurities. The oldest boy is a good level headed boy, he's a Tasmanian Devil until he settles in in the morning (not bad, just over flowing with energy), but after that, he's a pretty easy kid.
Both of the oldest are from a previous marriage which was annulled. Their mother lives in the area here and they go there 2 nights a week and every other! weekend normally. The next is a 3 year old girl. She is a bright littl! e girl figuring the world out.
She's potty trained and very bright. She's very talkative (as are all the kids) and isn't afraid to try and tell you what she thinks - she responds very well to a simple verbal correction. Joe is recently 2 and is a good and sharp little guy. He's well behaved most of the time but tangles with dad from time to time to see what he can get away with.
Not much is the lesson that he's quickly learning. The baby (born in May) girl that doesn't have any personality that doesn't involve eating and sleeping. : ) Our ideal would be someone that is Catholic and well versed in their faith and comfortable with that being the central focus of the home. The ideal candidate might be a recent grad from a large family or someone looking to take a gap year.
