Description: UW Health is hiring Dialysis Patient Care Tech - right now, this position will be placed in Wisconsin. Detailed specification about this position opportunity kindly see the descriptions. The Dialysis Patient Care Technician (DPCT) Associate is responsible for direct patient care for adults, elderly patients, and unit support activities. Direct patient care includes performance of basic h! emodialysis techniques and procedures, daily patient care and observations under the direct supervision and guidance of a registered nurse. Unit support activities include cleaning and disinfection of the hemodialysis machine, and testing of the water treatment system, preparation of bicarbonate dialysate and acid concentrate, drawing blood samples and preparing them for transport to the laboratory, and perform both simple and complex laboratory tests and the required quality controls. Participates in quality improvement activities to maintain patient care standards.
1. High School Diploma required.
2. Dialysis Tech certificate from an accredited school preferred.
3. At least six months working as a Patient Care Technician in a dialysis unit setting required OR At least one (1) year of full-time (or two (2) years of part-time) experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant.
4. Dialysis technician experience preferred.
! 5. CMS recognized certification as a dialysis technician withi! n 18 months of working as a Dialysis Technician required.
6. CPR Certification required.
7. Current CMS recognized certification as a dialysis Patient Care Technician preferred.
8. Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
