In all accounts deemed most important to the company (commercial and public), the National Account Manager (NAM) is responsible for identifying, formulating, examining, and implementing strategies and tactics for obtaining, maintaining and expanding the utilization of the company's products in an effort to attain annual sales objectives. The NAM is responsible for making in-person calls to gain and maximize access and utilization for all Merz products and address any and all customer needs.

Partner with Regional Business Manager to identify and prioritize key business drivers in assigned region(s). Gain and maximize access and utilization for all Merz products. Provide sales representatives and management with written and oral summaries of reimbursement and coverage status for all assigned plans. Reports should also inc! lude areas such as:

Opportunities/problems with prior! ity accounts

Guidance on strategies and tactics that field management and their staff should follow to maximize sales within assigned accounts via demand creation

Enlisting Regional Business Managers and their Representatives to facilitate, coordinate, and insure adherence to: educational programs, call activity, contract 'pull-through,' and other prescribed activities within assigned accounts

Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with field staff, including obtaining input on strategies and tactics for increasing sales

Providing cooperation and team effort with field management

Developing timely and appropriate business reviews

Identify key personnel within each assigned account who impact or have the potential to impact the utilization of products, such as:

Medical directors, CEOs, administrators, pharmacy directors, pharmacy and therapeutic committee members, purchasing directors, nurses, ! financial/utilization/outcomes consultants, drug utilization review committee members, Medicare/Medicaid program directors/officials, continuing education personnel and technology assessment committee members

Develops opportunities and address business issues through relationship building in targeted accounts. These accounts include but are not limited to HMO, PBM, GPO,, and State Medicaid Departments

Develops relationships with key influencers in multiple departments (e.g. medical, pharmacy, case management, and finance) within assigned accounts.

Analyze, develop, and implement account plans by determining the current value, future potential, and priority of assigned accounts with reference to:

Sales and profit

Impact of account on similar accounts within their market

Impact their key personnel can have on other decision makers within their markets

Impact on the company's image within their market

Coll! ect and maintain comprehensive information on assigned accounts
Organize and maintain an effective account coverage itinerary

Develop meaningful call objectives with the highest probability of generating successful outcomes

Have face-to-face meetings with account decision makers on a regular basis

Understand the competitive market and what it takes to get the business

Obtain all the necessary information necessary for proceeding with a selling opportunity which meets the needs of both the customer and Merz Pharmaceuticals

Provide verbal and written follow-up on all account requests and sales opportunities

Expand distribution and availability of Merz products

Establish rapport with the customers and gain their acceptance of Merz Pharmaceuticals' policies

Manage expenses within allocated budget

Manage time and priorities in the most efficient manner

Communicate effectively with customers, peers, upper management, home office personnel, medical scie! nce liaisons, and field sales personnel

Recommendations for adjustments to current marketing strategies and tactics

Recommendations for programs that will enhance the company's long-term working relationship with accounts, such as, funding educational programs or financial support for customer generated programs

Progress reports on current projects

Feedback on competitive activity within assigned accounts

New product launches

Generate customer correspondence, report sales activities, and perform other administrative tasks necessary to be effective within requested timelines

Recommend to Director, OCG, Neurology, on an ad hoc basis, changes/needs that will improve the overall performance of the National Account Manager. These should include areas, such as:

Additions/deletions of assigned accounts

Changes in operational budgets

Required consignment equipment

Changes in policies/! procedures

Develops and negotiates contracts for Merz Pharmace! uticals' products consistent with corporate objectives (unit volume, market share, profitability)

Works with Contract Operations, Legal, and the Contract Organization throughout the contracting process and the contract life cycle to assure execution and adherence to the terms and conditions of the contract.

Acts as the Merz Pharmaceuticals expert on all issues related to assigned accounts.

Performs all other duties as assigned by manager

Required Skills

Required Experience

Bachelor's Degree with degrees in business or life sciences preferred. Advanced degree in pharmacy, healthcare or business desirable.

5 to 7 years in pharmaceutical sales and 2 years prior experience as Regional/National Account Manager

Must have payor-oriented experience and Medicare Part B MAC insights (calling on MACs or working with products are are MAC oriented)

Extensive knowledge of healthcare policy

Commercia! l contracting knowledge

Organized, good people skills, professional image

Previous experience in the neurology/neurotoxin market and well-established relationships with OCG decision makers is advantageous.
