The Registered Nurse(RN) utilizes the nursing process when assisting with the delivery of primary health care and patient care management in the clinic setting. The RN performs a wide variety of patient care activities inc! luding documentation within the medical record. The RN utilizes nursing skills when assessing and triaging patients and recommending follow-up care. The position requires the ability to make decisions consistent with nursing practice, clinic policies and observance of confidentiality of patient information. Knowledge of patient care standards normally acquired through graduation of an accredited RN program, an active Wisconsin nursing license and current CPR certification required. ACLS certification desired. Two years medical experience preferred. Knowledge of medical practice required. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modi! fying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional ! nursing to provide on-going patient care. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing protocols, and responding to correspondence. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to assess patients in person and over the telephone; make recommendations of care and document. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to interpret, adapts, and applies guidelines and procedures. Ability to administer, maintain, and discontinue I.V. and Hep. Locks including I.V. antibiotics. Ability to perform health history assessments. Ability to provide detailed phone assessment, documentation, and recommendation skills. Skill in wound care: Remove staples, sutures, and drains. Skill in nasopharyngeal swabs. Skill in care of central venous access devices (blood draw and flush and dressing changes). Skill in Venipuncture, EKG.
