St. Elizabeth Hospital has a part-time CNA/Technical Colleague! opening on their Progressive Care Unit.
This is a night shift position with a weekend and holiday rotation.
2 South is a 24 bed unit providing 24 hour inpatient care for primary diagnoses of cardiac, renal, respiratory and medical concerns. The level of care provided includes intermediate as well as general nursing care depending on patient needs.
Position Overview:
Under the direction of a RN, the Technical Colleague performs patient care activities including basic rehabilitation, respiratory therapy and EKGs. The Technical Colleague documents data obtained and reports all deviation from normal findings to the RN promptly and reinforces patient/family teaching that has been provided by the RN.
Essential duties:
Accepts and performs delegated aspects of care that he/she is competent to perform, under the direction of the RN. This includes advanced skills obtained through Technical Colleague training and based on est! ablished policy and procedure.
Provides assistance in! activities of daily living (ADLs), including nutrition, mobility, ambulation, elimination, and personal hygiene.
Provides emotional support and considers patient’s condition and family needs in providing care.
Observes and reports promptly any changes in patient’s behavior and physical status to the RN. Notifies RN promptly of patient requests that require professional nursing intervention.
Provides patient care using appropriate infection control and safety precautions.
Assists the RN and reinforces teaching of patients/families, staff and students.
Recognizes common barriers to communication including language, vision changes, hearing loss, speech problems, memory loss and disorientation.
Recognizes patient rights by providing an opportunity for patients to make choices in scheduling their care. Notifies RN when patient expresses concern related to issues of care or treatment.
Documents care provided on a! ppropriate chart forms.
Qualifications
Certified Nursing Assistant Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
Must be 18 years old
Current certification on the Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Registry
CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
completion of technical colleague requirements within 3 months of hire.
Previous experience as a CNA in an acute or long-term care facility preferred, but may be required based on business needs of the unit.
Technical Colleague Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
Must be 18 years old
Current certification on the Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Registry
Completion of Technical Colleague training within 6 months of hire
CPR certification within 90 days of hire
Previous experience as a Tech Colleague in an acute care or long-term care facility is preferred but may be required based on the needs of the unit.
