Description: State of Wisconsin is looking of Nursing Supervisor - Mendota Mental Health Institute right now, this position will be placed in Wisconsin. Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Office Supervisor (NOS) provides hospital wide oversight, direction and super! vision to nursing staff on a shift basis. The NOS provides consultation to Unit Managers and Nurse Clinicians regarding complex patient care situations on nursing care standards, MMHI policies and procedures and psychiatric treatment modalities. The first position that will be filled includes the responsibility for the coordination of nursing students’ clinical placements at MMHI. The NOS plays a key role in ensuring effective internal communication on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week basis and serves as the administrative liaison between MMHI and the community. The NOS serves as the on duty supervisor of nursing staff as well as the first line supervisor for float pool staff.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of the principles and applications of basic psychiatric treatment modalities; k nowledge of psychiatric nursing principles and current psychiatric nursing practice; k nowledge of and skill in implementing the nursing process and its application to treatment/planning; k nowledge of and the ability to apply the principles of problem-solving and conflict resolution; k nowledge of the principles of adult education; w orking knowledge of the principles of management; k nowledge of the criteria for measuring safe nursing practice and methods of quality assurance; knowledge of guidance and counseling techniques; k nowledge of workplace safety and current safety trends; knowledge of the Wisconsin Administrative Code for the Board of Nursing; w ritten and verbal communication skills; knowledge of hospital staffing and scheduling principles; and k nowledge of infection control practices.
Pay will be based on the rules that apply to compensation upon transfer, rein! statement, or voluntary demotion; starting salary will not be less than $28.846 per hour. The pay schedule/range is 50/11. A twelve-month probationary period may be required. This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
