Location: Franklin, Wisconsin

The Occupational Health Nurse reports directly to the Environmental Health & Safety manager. The successful candidate holds a valid nursing license in the state of Wisconsin and current certification in CPR/AED from the American Red Cross or AHA.
Essential Job Duties
  • Treat on-site injuries and refer to outside medical care as needed.
  • Performs appropriate onsite treatment per doctor’s plan of care.
  • Case management for injured workers and facilitate return to work.
  • Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses.
  • Administration of the Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy. Completion of post-accident and reasonable suspicion, when needed. Both DOT, and Non-DOT testing required.
  • Management and responsibility for training employees in first aid and CPR/AED as first responders to aid in the care of injured workers.
  • Communication with worker’s compensation insurance company and advice on workers' compensation claims, as needed.
  • Purchase all supplies required for the first aid clinic.
  • Develop and meet site budget expectations.
  • Drive increased health outcomes including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks, and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and well-being.
  • Willingness to work closely with the Safety managers at the division level to recognize hazards and prevent injuries.
  • Maintenance of record retention, and storage of confidential documents.
  • Assessment of potential health hazards.
  • Maintenance of AED and first response program.
  • Management and training of the first responders program.
  • Management of wellness program/health promotion such as mammogram testing, health improvement plans, health fair, etc.
  • Assistance with hearing conservation and other industrial hygiene programs.
  • Assist in r egulatory compliance with OSHA, DOT and other regulatory agencies/ departments to achieve company safety objectives.
  • Assist/coordinate safety training and awareness activities with multiple facilities to ensure effective training, proper documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Assist the EHS manager with maintaining accurate OSHA 300 logs and generating all injury/ illness metrics as required.
  • Assist corporate claims staff with investigation and follow-up of injuries and incidents as needed.
  • Act as a member of the plant Safety Team Committee and support the plant safety teams.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory standards and initiatives. Use this information to update programs as needed, and provide communications to assure that appropriate Snyder’s-Lance personnel are aware of new current or upcoming standards/requirements.
  • Ass ist with all in-house seminars which include scheduling meeting rooms, gathering participant’s names, preparing sign-in sheets, presentation materials and handouts, and related functions.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports based on deadlines.
  • Prepares materials for various meetings and training sessions.
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.
  • The position is full time Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. â€" 4:00 p.m. with on-call required after hours for injury management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by EHS manager, as required to meet need of Snyder’s-Lance facilities.
    Statement of Coverage
    In absence of an incumbent, a temporary nurse will be contracted through a nursing vendor.
    Scope of Responsibility
  • Makes independent decisions on a regular basis.
  • Works with leaders to provide input on budgetary spending.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Apply common sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or in diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables and/or from standardized situations.
  • Ability to read safety rules, instructions for procedures, write reports with grammatical correctness, and speak with poise, voice control, and confidence.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of job-related experience in Occupational Health Services (OHS). Certifications in related fields highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in various areas of occupational health, including but not limited to, OSHA compliance, ADA, EH&S, HR, ergonomics, healt h promotion, EMS, and/or education / training.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual a plus.
Professional Licenses or Certifications
  • Active Wisconsin LPN or RN License.
  • Current CPR/AED certification with American Red Cross or AHA.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification a plus.
