The William S Middleton VA is seeking a Nurse! Practitioner (NP) for our Diabetes Service. The ideal candidate for this position will have prescriptive authority and their CDE completed. The NP for Diabetes will participate in the clinical setting and provide management for patients using oral, subcutaneous and intravenous antiglycemic agents in the diabetic inpatient and outpatient settings. This position requires a strong knowledge base in diabetes management including use of U500 insulin, insulin pumps, insulin drips and management of the critically ill patient using TAN or tube feedings. The NP will also provide education to the veterans in self-management skills to improve self-efficacy in chronic disease management and complication prevention. The NP will be involved with program development to enhance the learning opportunities for the veteran.
Work Schedule: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and ! some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.

- Must possess a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia
- A Nurse Practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a masterÂ's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally re! cognized certifying body
- Must be licensed with prescriptive privileges
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C.402(d) and 7407(d)

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave : Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
