The Cardiovascular Medicine Nurse Practitioner functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team including multiple UWMF Cardiologists, Nurse Practitioners, Exercise Physiologists, registered nurses and medical assistants, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in outpatient clinical and emergency department settings. This individual will be predominately in the outpatient setting working with faculty physicians in the care of known patients for the CVM service as well as seeing new patients. The individual also may participate in stress testing in the outpatient setting. He/she demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses, specifically disorders of the cardiovascular system. He/she provides care and educates patients and their families on wellness care and treatment plans for health disorders, and! intervenes in acute episodes. He/she develops criteria for an! d participates in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of care. He/she plans and participates in learning opportunities for nursing and medical students. He/she works with administrative, nursing, physician, and university faculty to assure quality patient care and to promote education and research. The Nurse Practitioner will primarily practice at UW CSC but may also provide patient services at any of the following locations: UW East or West outpatient clinics or Research Park. Outpatient hours of M-F, 8 - 5. This position will be a 0.5-.6 FTE position

Qualifications
State of Wisconsin NP licensure
Master's Degree in Nursing with specialty preparation as a Nurse Practitioner AND
Certification appropriate to practice area (where applicable) AND
Certificate as an advanced practice nurse prescriber or qualifies to obtain certificate as appropriate
Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharm! acology and management of acute and chronic patient/family health problems specific to cardiovascular medicine.
Two years of cardiology, family practice or geriatrics clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
CPR certified
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Professional demeanor
Schedule
This is a 20-24 hour per week position. The position will work 3 days per week. Hours are Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m..
